4th grade students learned about stalactites (hang tight to the ceiling) and stalagmites (might grow tall). We discussed how they are formed and different types of caves. Everyone started by watercoloring their stalactites and stalagmites with and emphasis on blending. Then we looked at several ways to draw a dragon. Each dragon needed to have texture and colored pencils needed to be blended in areas. This is what they came up with. One of my favorite lessons!
