Yep, your eyes are seeing correctly! He takes pencils and makes tiny carving out of them. Doesn't he make great use of the wooden part and the lead part? While looking at his website I noticed that he was showing some of his work at the Morris Museum, which is only about an hour from here. It just ended this month but you can still enjoy these photos and get inspired! Check out his site Dalton Ghetti.
I saw some of his sculptures in person. They were amazing. I wish I could buy one of his pieces. Working on such a small scale and creating such beautiful sculptures is awesome!
