New school year!

Happy first day to all students and families.

If you're new to my blog here is how things work:

My mission...
1. To have a place were families can see inside the art room and experience what we have worked on and are currently working on. As well as getting an idea of how the art room works, including our studio words to live by and classroom procedures.

2. I want to provide a space where students can come to find reminders about things they need to bring and news about new happenings in the art room. Here students can also find online resources to explore art at home in the student news/resource section.

3. Art educators are always looking for new ideas or ways they can put a new twist on a classroom favorite. I'd like this to be one of those go to stops on the idea wagon.

Navigating the site...
Home is where you can find updates about the art room, whether it be new classroom procedures or exciting new big projects happening in the school.

Past and current lessons are under the corresponding grade level. These have a similar format throughout: Title of the lesson, description of the lesson, and pictures.

In Student Resources you'll find links to student safe sites to explore art making, as well as, art history.

Student News is a place for students to find information on new happenings in the art room, and any reminders.

I thought I would start the year out with a trip around the art room. I spent half the summer cleaning and reorganizing my room. It was totally a labor of love!! Below is the bulletin board outside of my room. I can't wait to fill the school with art.

I'll start by posting some before pictures.

In progress pictures.

Now for the unveiling of the studio now! It starts at the front door and moves left.

Some close ups of certain areas. Below in the Creation Station. This is where students can if they finish early and no art work that needs to be made up. Here they can explore various forms of art making!

Below is our In our class... sign. Each class is adding their own words of wisdom.

This board contains learning objectives, which grade(s) they pertain to and an example of the project we are working on.

This is the kiln room.

Look at all that clay ready to make some great projects!

Hope you enjoyed this little trip. I'm looking forward to an amazing new year! New posts will be added about each new project we are working on. Please feel free to leave comments and visit often!
