Fall Compositions

This project focused on textures. I began with explaining/showing the difference between actual and implied textures. I went through slides and asked students implied or actual. They did great picking out the differences. We then looked at and touched leaves, mini pumpkins and gourds picking out the actual and implied textures on each. Then students were given three different sizes of paper 3 small ones for leaves, 2 medium ones for gourds and 1 large for a pumpkin. These would later make up the objects in their composition. Students were asked to keep this in mind when picking colors and making textures. Each sheet was painted and texturized. Once the paper dried the objects were cut and arranged on neutral paper till a balanced composition was achieved. Lastly, leaf, pumpkin and gourd lines where added with metallic paint.

Art vocab: texture, composition, balance, actual texture, implied texture
