Pictograph Story

Pictographs are an ancient language of symbols. They were used by many civilizations and can be seen painted on rock walls through out the world. People used these symbols to tell stories or depict everyday life.

Students learned the difference between pictographs and pertoglyphs. Each student was then asked to tell a story of something that happened to them using the pictograph style. Students had to have at least 7 of their own symbols and then they were able to incorporate the existing ones on the sheet.

Art vocab: pictograph, accordion fold, symbols, petroglyph
