Winter Figures

I had one of my 5th grade classes make winter figures instead of people figures like the other two. Students were able to pick a figure that reminded them of winter. First they sketched then they learned about clay; where it comes from, and the different kinds. We also discussed best practices for working with clay. Students learned to score and slip before attaching clay pieces together. Figures where then under glazed to add color and glazed to add the glossy finish.
